Rugged peninsulas, clean beaches, towering mountains and some of Ireland's most famous landmarks. The counties of Cork and Kerry , famous rivals in sport, are equally famous for their natural beauty and hospitality.
Ireland's most Southwesterly Counties, they have been favoured travel destinations for generations. These two counties offer a wide variety of vacations and breaks - from gourmet heaven in Kinsale to the bustle of Dingle, from the lushness of Killarney National Park to the wild Atlantic views at Ireland's most Southerly point, Mizen Head.
Historically the geographical area now comprised of Counties Cork and Kerry was known as Ivernia. The region is historically and culturally important and still has a number of Gaeltacht areas where Irish is the primary spoken language. Visits to islands such as the Blaskets, Garnish and Cape Clear are particular treats while the Ring of Kerry and Killarney town remain firm favourites year after year with both locals and toursits alike.
With both Cork airport and Kerry airport serving the area and with Shannon Airport less than an hour from the main tourist spots, the area is very accessible and is enjoyed by thousands of visitors each year. There is a seasonal ferry service from Swansea in the UK serving Cork.
